PRATIGYA
Pratigya was started in 2005 as a student society by a group of few students under the leadership of Dr. Seema Bawa (former DoSA and Professor, CSED). One of the co-founder of society was Mr. Rajanvir Singh Kapur who is now serving as an IAS officer after securing AIR-93 in Civil Services Examination-2011.
Thapar Technology Campus is synonymous with a diverse community that is
committed to scholarship entrepreneurship, social reforms, research and
development. PRATIGYA Society aims to remove illiteracy around our vicinity.
It is a unique model where students of the university teach children living in &
around Thapar who cannot afford education or need help in their studies. Pratigya
is surely a school cum tuition for the children. Special care is given to each and
every child so as to bring out his real character. The interaction between the
student and the teacher is fabulous so as to inculcate confidence in each and every
individual.
Pratigya was started in 2005 as a student society. University provides all
infrastructural support free of cost. Administration faculty provide administrative
and supervisory support.
PURPOSE :
➢ Remove illiteracy.
➢ Providing children of 4th class employees of Thapar University with the
maximum amount of exposure.
➢ Increase their interaction with the world.
➢ Teach “what, when and how” to study.
➢ Make children not only literate but educated.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :
1 Sports Day:
Sports are most easy and convenient ways for the very good physical and mental
exercise. It is very useful for growth and development of the individual as well
as the country. Sports play great role in improving and maintaining the health and
fitness, improving mental skills and concentration level as well as social and
communication skills. So, Pratigya Society organise an annual Sports day every
year in month of October to develop spirit of sportsmanship.
2 Rangoli & Drawing Competition :
Working in a non-competitive, relaxed environment will enable the student come
closer to greater personal achievements. This will strengthen his/her individuality
and self-esteem. This is especially significant for students who need activities that
can strengthen their autonomy. So, Rangoli and Drawing making competitions
are organized so as to bring out the creativity in the children.
3 Kite Flying Day
For a student, outdoor creative activities are as much important as academics.
And one of these activities is traditional Indian practice of flying kites. Keeping
all this in mind, Pratigya Society organise Kite Flying Day in SBOP Lawns every
year where kites as well as dor is provided by the society.
4 UDAAN :

Udaan is the annual cultural fest of Pratigya. After final exams in March when
children wish to relax. Pratigya gives them a chance to enhance their talent.
Children are prepared with dance, singing, fancy dress, bhangra, skit, nautanki,
anchoring according to their, talent & interest. After preparation children perform
at the university auditorium. Here teachers, students, & the parents of children
are present to encourage them.
