ABOUT THE NGO
Voluntary Health Association of Punjab (VHAP) established in 1993 and got
registered is a non-profit organization. VHAP is also registered with the Union
Ministry of Home, Govt of India under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act
(FCRA) 1976. Donations to VHAP are exempt under Section 80G of Income
Tax Act also. It is affiliated to the Voluntary Health Association of India
(VHAI) New Delhi. It is a right based organization with its head office at
Chandigarh, India. The organization is working on various diverse issues of
public interest, society interest at large aiming at multi-fold development at the
grassroots, state, regional, national & international level with health and
development agenda as its mission.
MISSION
Since its inception, it has been working in the northern region of India i.e.
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh U.T., Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
VHAP has its stretches in Health and development related issues such as
poverty, poor local self governance, illiteracy, ignorance, social injustice,
gender discrimination and prominently among them are reproductive and child
health care, declining sex ratio, Health & Sanitation, Targeted Intervention
Programme of HIV/AIDS, development and Empowerment of Women, Menace
of health hazards from consumption of Tobacco. Apart from this VHAP is also
engaged on the issues of BBBP, Governance, gender budgeting, SBM bringing
out lots of publications in Punjabi (local language) and English both. VHAP is
also a parts of various committees set up by the government.
